August 1994 saw the first Canadian National FireFit Competition held at the Pacific National Exhibition (P.N.E.) in Vancouver. During the 15 days of the P.N.E. approximately 50,000 spectators enjoyed the Event.
With the success of the P.N.E. Event, 7 FireFit events were scheduled and held from coast to coast in 1995 with over 715 competitors from more than 105 Fire Departments participating. Brampton was crowned Canadian Champions again in 1995 at the CNE in Toronto, holding onto the Title they had won at the P.N.E. the previous year. 1996 saw 7 successful competitions once again, with records broken in every category and Brampton taking the Team Title, for a third time, at the CNE hosted by Toronto. In 1997 there were more events, more competitors and a new Champion Team from the Toronto Fire Dept. at the London Western Fair.
The popularity of the FireFit Competition has grown and grown over the years and visits every Province in Canada. With the popularity of our 1 hour Championship Finals show, aired on TSN, OLN & RDS, FireFit has become known not only in Canada but World Wide. Competitors come from every Province and Territory in Canada as well as the United States, New Zealand, & England.
