A walk through one of the forgotten sections of Ontario – a small section of land that displays how easily we can forget if we fail to remember, fail to vigilantly protect our history.

This is my kitty Chicklet. My other kitty, Woozle is too young to hold still long enough for me to take a picture of her.

Sometimes Chicklet gets her whiskers bent out of shape as she is not the only kitty in my life.

She forgives me if I let her sit on the kitty warming device…

Just in case anyone thought that I actually was indestructible.

I’m not. Pretty damn close though as long as I remember that thou shall not open thine master carabineer, never hit on a woman who is going out with a mobster and don’t fall in love on a day that ends with a Y. 

No, it’s not fair at all.

Curses. Drat. Rats.

No matter how careful I am my pigtails are always end up being lop sided off center and fastened with elastics that do not match.

Perhaps I should try stopping the van when I put them in?

I spend a lot of time working with people who just happen to appreciate a little bit of assistance, encouragement or a smile to get into a sailboat for an afternoon of sailing. People.

So I’m off having coffee with some friends when a one of the waitresses comes up to me and says “Carly?”. 

Yes…

“From Sailability?”

Yes…

Her daughter is one of my sailors. Small world. 

Her daughter had an accident, broke her leg, is in hospital and won’t be able to attend the year end banquet. Send her my wishes and give her a hug…

As it turns out that was not the only person who has a connection with my sailors. Look below…

Yes, my sailors in a small world that is connected in so many ways that I could never have imagined. Awesome. I meet someone who can help me understand how to be the best sailing person that I can be for them.

I call them my sailors as I appreciate each of them for the people that they are and the spirit that they bring to the dock. My sailors.

I’m going to get Nicole to sail with my sailors. Small world but so connected. 

At the banquet I look down and see a little plastic crocodile at my place, a small object that I had placed at one of the tables last year. My sailor, my sailor in hospital had sent it for me. 

Small world…

A lot of people that I know complain about the fall as it is a cold, wet season that heralds the coming of winter. 

I love the fall with it’s cool, crisp air and vibrant colours, and I have a swell rain jacket.

Dayum…

I brought a stake to a zombie fight…

It’s been quite a while since I last posted anything here – partially because I am boring, I’ve been stressed out and I’ve been getting way to involved with stuff.

While the picture above is weird, it is nothing compared to the darker side of my recreational activities – you know, like in spank your bum and call you naughty…

I understand the science behind the seasonal biological states of deciduous trees but I don’t truly understand my biological changes. The leaves are starting to change color as I change as a person.

The changing colors of the leaves and the changes within myself make it difficult to hide at times. At least I can wait until I am alone and kick the leaves as I enjoy them for what they are.

I’ve been fortunate to have had the time and resources to travel to some interesting places where I met animals that wanted to have me, or at least my intestines for supper.

I think I actually like myself here.

And here…

I spent a bit of time in Laval Quebec. It’s wonderful as they have lululemon, Sephora and some really fine restaurants.

I also managed to wipe out just a few times while running…

I sailed. A lot. Sometimes as skipper, sometimes as a foredeck monkey.

Sometimes I just chilled while sailing…

I went to the Canadian Offshore Regatta Kingston (CORK) and brought home a silver, a gold and some great memories.

Sometimes I just let my hair down and walked the trail to lock 1 and the zombie factory.

I rode the train, enjoyed the beauty of the Gatineau and had a lunch that was surprisingly yummy despite being disgustingly healthy.

I laughed, listened and learned while having coffee with friends.
